Since June 2020, I have acted on the Youth Leadership Council for EarthEcho International as one of two UK representatives for the duration of a 2-year term ending in June of 2022.
EarthEcho International is a non-profit organisation started by Phillippe Cousteau Jr with the vision of creating a world where every individual, from all backgrounds and experiences, has the opportunity and tools to create a healthy and thriving environment. The organisation's mission is to build a global youth movement to protect and restore our ocean planet.
Working alongside 23 other youth representatives from all over the world, we work on numerous committees and get involved with our local communities and further afield into national and global matters.
With four main committees:
STEMExlpore
Expeditions
OurEcho challenge
Water challenge
I worked in a smaller project group for the expeditions committee during my tenure at EarthEcho International.
Also, as a YLC member, I acted upon one of three other committees, these were:
Education
Policy
Habitat Restoration
Whilst working on the habitat restoration committee, I worked along with other YLC members to collectively restore one mile of coastline throughout different locations around the world. My location of interest was in Plymouth in the southwest of the UK focusing on coastal seagrass habitats.
Throughout my time on the YLC, I contributed to, talked at and hosted several conferences, some including:
EarthEcho International Youth Summit
IUCN Youth Summit
MBA Youth Conference
Sea7 Summit
NMEA Conference
UltraMarine Summit
I am also the ongoing sole UK youth representative for an ongoing marketing campaign to protect 30% of the ocean by the year 2030 in partnership with marketing company VMLY&R.
